Tired of SPAM?
What is spam?
Spam is unsolicited “junk e-mail.”
The average American user receives 2200 spam messages per year.
Roughly 85% of all e-mail traffic in the United States is spam, up from 8 percent in late 2001 and nearly doubling in the past six months.
You can help keep spam under control by changing YOUR e-mail habits.
1. Use separate e-mail accounts. Create one for personal use and one to sign up for contests or order merchandise.
2. Just delete spam- DO NOT click on the UNSUBSCRIBE link, it just confirms the fact that this e-mail address is working, and then they may sell it to other spammers.
3. Mix letters and number in your e-mail address. Computer-generated software that is used to send spam will have a harder time guessing your e-mail address.
4. Spell out your e-mail address when using it in chat rooms and forums (yourname at cape cod dot com) instead of yourname@capecod.com. Then spammers can’t capture your email address and use it.
