16-year-old arraigned in Yarmouth stabbing death

YARMOUTH – A 16-year old has been arraigned on murder charges in Barnstable District Court in the stabbing death of a man at the Beach ‘N Towne Motel on Route 28 in Yarmouth on January 6.

Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe’s office identifies the suspect as Cole Martin, who was charged with murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in the death of James Dean, 44.

Martin entered pleas of not guilty to the charges. He was ordered held without bail and sent for a mental health evaluation. He’s due back in Barnstable District Court for a pretrial hearing on February 8th .

“This is a disturbing case and as we gather information we will continue to review it,” O’Keefe said in a statement

The case remains under investigation by Yarmouth Police and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office

Yarmouth Police previously said the victim and suspect were related.
