Updated: 2-alarm blaze guts East Falmouth home

EAST FALMOUTH – Fire gutted a home in East Falmouth early Sunday morning. Heavy smoke and flames were visible when crews arrived at the two-story home at 108 Carriage Shop Road about 4:15 AM.

Falmouth Fire-Rescue reports that first arriving Engine 25 encountered heavy smoke and fire showing from a 2 story residence. An initial attack line was stretched, however heavy fire conditions throughout the house made an interior attack impossible.

A 2nd alarm was struck, bringing all remaining Falmouth units to the scene, as well as an Engine Company from the Town of Mashpee. Eventually, 4 attack lines were stretched, and the fire was knocked down. The building was extensively damaged.

There were no injuries. Bourne and Joint Base Cape Cod FDs covered Falmouth stations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
