Alert officer interrupts B&E

croftsabrinaHYANNIS – Barnstable Police report that on Thursday at approximately 2:30 a.m. Officer Kevin Fullam observed two females acting suspiciously in the rear parking lot of the Holiday Inn on Route 132 in Hyannis. When he approached them they were in the process of attempting to break into a commercial pickup truck that was parked in the lot. Once they saw Officer Fullam they fled back to their vehicle where they were detained.

After an investigation it was determined that the two females had been out breaking into several unlocked vehicles in the area of the hotel and neighboring apartment complex. They were identified as Sabrina Croft, 18, (pictured) of Hyannis, and a juvenile, age 17, of Hyannis. The vehicle they were driving was owned by the juvenile’s family and was being used without permission. Inside the vehicle officers recovered a cache of stolen property including three guitars, prescription medication, a wallet, a GPS, headphones, a cell phone and a large amount of smaller items of low value. Croft and the juvenile were both placed under arrest and transported to the department.

After a follow-up investigation was completed they are both being charged with the following: Attempted Breaking & Entering into a Motor Vehicle, 7 counts of Breaking & Entering into a Motor Vehicle, Receiving Stolen Property Valued at Over $250.00. The juvenile was also charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License. They were both arraigned later in the day and then released on personal recognizance. The majority of the stolen property has been returned to its owners.
