Two men face drug charges in Truro after traffic stop

– Truro Police report that on Thursday at approximately 2:04 p.m., Lieutenant Craig Danziger conducted a motor vehicle stop of a gray 2015 Audi A3 with Massachusetts plates in the area of 471 Shore Road (Route 6A) for failing to use a turn signal.

The driver was identified as Scott Michael Donaghue, 31, (left) and the passenger was identified as Damon Benjamin Robinson, 23, (right) both of Billerica, MA.

Police say as Lt. Danziger approached the vehicle, both suspects were acting suspiciously. Backup officers were requested to the scene. In addition, Truro Police K9 officer Steven Raneo and his narcotics K9 partner “Ella” responded.

Within minutes, K9 Officer Raneo advised that “Ella” indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor coming from the vehicle.

As a result of further investigation, approximately 14 grams of methamphetamine (Class B), GHB (Class A), and a large assortment of prescription pills packaged for distribution, along with $880 in cash, a digital scale, and other drug paraphernalia consistent with sales and distribution were seized.

Both Donaghue and Robinson were placed under arrest. Both were charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance (2 counts), possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance, possession of a Class E substance, and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act. Donaghue was additionally charged with failing to use turn signal.

It was learned Donaghue has several prior charges for drug possession and distribution out of Somerville District Court. Robinson also has 40 prior criminal charges in Massachusetts for a variety of offenses.

Both Donaghue and Robinson were held without bail pending arraignment Friday in Orleans District Court.
