CHATHAM – A spokesperson for the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s office confirms that late Monday afternoon police responded to a report of a possible accidental drowning near North Beach in Chatham. The deceased has been identified as David Murdoch, 78, of Chatham. The matter remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police, Chatham Police and the Massachusetts Environmental Police. There is nothing at this time to suggest the cause of death was anything other than accidental.
