4 injured, 3 seriously in head-on crash in Sandwich


SANDWICH
– Four people were injured, three seriously in a head-on crash in Sandwich Thursday evening. The crash happened about 8 PM at the intersection of Route 130 and Cotuit Road.

Firefighters had to extricate some of the victims from the wreckage using the Jaws of Life. A Mashpee ambulance responded mutual aid to the scene.

A MedFlight helicopter was not immediately available. The three seriously injured victims were transported to South Shore Hospital trauma center in Weymouth. A fourth victim was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth.

A Barnstable Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Officer (CIO) and the Mass State Police Accident Reconstruction team responded to the scene and were assisting Sandwich Police with the ongoing investigation.
