Video: Four hurt in South Dennis head-on crash

SOUTH DENNIS – Four people were seriously injured in a head-on crash between a full-size GMC pickup truck with one person onboard, and a Toyota Camry sedan carrying three people around 7:55 p.m. Tuesday. The crash happened in a driving rainstorm on Old Bass River Road at Amanda’s Trail, just north of the Main Street-Old Bass split. The Dennis Fire Department declared a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) calling in ambulances from Harwich and Yarmouth to the scene.

The vehicles ended up approximately 75 to 100 feet apart with the Camry facing south in the northbound lane. The pickup came to rest facing north in the southbound lane. The bumper of the Camry protruded from beneath the rear of the truck.

All involved were transported to Cape Cod Hospital with “Priority 2” injuries suffering from chest and neck injuries.

Old Bass River Road was closed to traffic until the scene could be cleared.

Dennis Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
