Brewster Police warn about IRS scam targeting residents

BREWSTER – Brewster Police are warning about an IRS scam that several residents reported this past weekend.

It involves a party calling on the phone and threatening the victim with arrest if they do not pay up immediately.

The scam has been widely reported on in the past, but police said it is important to take notice, especially as the tax deadline approaches.

The best course of action if you receive a call is to hang up. As long as you do not give out personal information, you should have nothing to worry about.
