BOURNE – The woman who died in a 2-alarm fire in the Monument Beach section of Bourne last Friday afternoon has been identified as Maureen Marzelli-White, 65.

The Cape and Islands district attorney’s office made the official announcement Tuesday afternoon.

The blaze broke out in a home on Alona Avenue just before 4 p.m. on March 17. The location is just 100 yards from a closed on-call fire station. The home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived from the Pocasset station.

Deputy Fire Chief Joe Cararra said a second alarm was struck to deal with the close exposure to surrounding homes. A dog was also found dead inside the home.

The State Fire Marshal’s office continues to investigate.
