Cape police participate in 5th annual “Shop With A Cop”

HYANNIS
– Cape Police participated in the 5th annual Cape Cod and the Islands Back-to-School Shop with a Cop Program on Wednesday.

As Police Officers, they often recognize that there are students and families who do not have the financial means to cover the costs of clothing and supplies needed to begin the school year.

In an effort to help these youths start the school year off in a positive light, police have selected students from towns all around Cape Cod to take them shopping for back-to-school clothing.

Additionally, police provide each student with a back pack filled with school supplies. Police Departments from all over Cape Cod and the Islands participate in this wonderful program.

Through this program, students not only get the supplies they need, but also have the opportunity to spend the day with Police Officers. Our goal is to build trust and strong community partnerships between students, their families, and Police Officers. The objective is to empower students to succeed in school, develop good decision-making skills, and stand up to bullying.

Deserving students from all over Cape Cod had pizza at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters at noon and then everyone headed to Old Navy in Hyannis for back to school clothes shopping.
