Child pedestrian struck by car in Falmouth

FALMOUTH – Falmouth Police report that on Saturday at approximately 3:40 p.m., members of the Falmouth Police Department, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office and Falmouth Fire Rescue Department responded to a crash involving a pedestrian in the area of 174 Sandwich Rd.

Once on scene, officers found that the pedestrian was a 9 year old girl from Bourne. The vehicle involved was a 2011 Toyota Camry and it was operated by an 89 year old Falmouth man.

The crash remains under investigation by the Falmouth Police Department and Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office, but witnesses indicated that the girl was struck by the vehicle while crossing the road with an adult.

The adult pedestrian was not injured. The young victim was transported by Falmouth Fire Rescue Department ambulance to the Falmouth Hospital Emergency Room. Her injuries are believed to be serious but not-life-threatening.
