Dennis Police Officer honored as “Unsung Heroine” in ceremony at State House

BOSTON –  Dennis Police Officer Elizabeth (Liz) Tucker was recognized Wednesday as an Unsung Heroine Award recipient by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women in a ceremony held in the Hall of Flags at the State House. 

Nominated for the award by Rep. Timothy Whelan (R-Brewster), Officer Tucker’s achievements noted in the ceremony included her work connecting persons suffering from mental health and/or substance misuse issues with much needed services,

She was also praised for her work with community members suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, initiating a Rape Aggression Defense program for high school girls, her work with Veterans, and volunteering her time coaching youth soccer.

“I have known Officer Tucker for some time now and have always admired her professionalism, commitment, and dedication of service.  She stands not only as a great example of the best in policing today to her community, but she also serves as an outstanding role model to women and young girls who are considering a career in law enforcement.  She is held in the highest regard by her command staff and colleagues at the Dennis Police Department and by the community she serves.  Well done, Liz.  You make us all very proud,” said Whelan.

The Mass. Commission on the Status of Women recognize Unsung Heroines from around the Commonwealth annually.
