Dennis police officer to receive top Women in Law Enforcement Award

DENNIS – Dennis Police Officer Elizabeth Tucker was recently notified by the Massachusetts Association of Women in Law Enforcement that she had been chosen to receive a 2017 Spirit of MAWLE award.

Officer Tucker, who is assigned to the department’s Community Services Unit, was nominated for the award, in the category of “Community Service”, by the department.

To be awarded in this category, a woman within the law enforcement field has to distinguish herself by superior accomplishments through developing, designing, implementing and participating in programs involving communities and law enforcement, which include neighborhoods, school, community meetings, and businesses.

Officer Tucker will receive her award at a ceremony scheduled for Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Stonehill College.

In a ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Massachusetts State House, Officer Tucker will be honored by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women as a “Commonwealth Unsung Heroine of 2017”.

Annual Unsung Heroine honors go to women who have been nominated by legislators from their districts and selected for their contributions to their community and the Commonwealth.

The Dennis Police Department congratulates Officer Tucker on her awards and the recognition she has received for her efforts as a department representative within the community.
