Updated: Driver seriously injured in Sandwich crash

SANDWICH – Sandwich Police report that on Thursday at approximately 12:21 a.m., they responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 130 at Dogwood Drive.

Upon arrival, officers observed a gray 2016 Chevy Silverado pickup off the road into the woods. Officers determined that the vehicle had been traveling North before going off the roadand striking a tree. The truck then proceeded further north into a wooded area before coming to a stop.

The operator of the vehicle was extricated from the wreckage by members of the Sandwich Fire Department using the Jaws of Life. The victim was taken to the Forestdale School to meed a MedFlight helicopter which flew him to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. Police say he had significant injuries and was listed in critical condition.

The crash was investigated by Ofc. Daniel Perkins, and a crash reconstruction was completed by Ofc. William Patton. Sandwich Police also received assistance from the Barnstable Sheriff’s Office with photographs. No charges have been filed at this time but the crash remains under investigation.

Update: It was reported on August 25th that the operator, Taylor Barry, 26, of Carver, MA later passed away at the hospital.
