Drug interdiction results in charges for three in Sandwich

SANDWICH – The Sandwich Police Drug Interdiction Unit along with the Massachusetts State Police were conducting proactive street-level drug interdiction on Thursday evening. At approximately 8:45 p.m., officers observed an alleged drug transaction occur at the Forestdale Mobil station on Route 130. The police interceded, which resulted in the arrest of Margaret Hendricks, 33, of Mashpee for possession of a Class B substance (prescription pills). Police also discovered at the scene an associate of Hendricks and a 4-year-old child. DCF was contacted regarding the police concern that a child was present during a drug transaction.

Later that night at approximately 12:30 a.m., a vehicle was stopped returning to Sandwich from New Bedford. During the investigation, Sandwich Police Detective O’Brien deployed his narcotics K-9 Koda. Koda indicated on the female occupant’s crotch area. Police found approximately 3 grams of crack cocaine secreted in her underwear As a result of that investigation and the search of the vehicle and occupants, Dominic Bartram, 31, of Sandwich and Abigail Deckel, 27, of Wareham were both placed under arrest for conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act and possession of a Class B substance (crack cocaine).
