Falmouth Police advise motorists about road work continuing Monday

FALMOUTH – Falmouth Police are advising motorists about paving work set to continue on Monday related to the Little Pond sewer service construction area.

All sewer mains and laterals have been installed. All major Maravista peninsula roadway paving has been completed. Clean up, touch-up and restoration is continuing.

Full width final paving in Route 28/Davis Straits from ~ Casa Vallarta (the Mexican restaurant on the west side of Davis Straits) south of Jones Road to Scranton Avenue is planned to begin on Monday May 1st.

This work involves cooperation between the town and the gas company since both sewer and gas mains were recently installed in this road section.

That section of Davis Straits will be milled, the sewer trench will be restored, and then the road will be paved. Davis Straits paving work is expected to be completed by May 12th, contingent upon weather and equipment availability.

This final paving on Davis Straits will likely require a single lane detour on of a portion of Route 28 at a time, between intersections.

There will be a period in which the road will be milled but not yet paved, so there will be elevated castings (manhole frames and covers) and rough pavement.

Route 28 will be open for business – follow detour signs and/or communicate with police detail officers to gain access.
