Falmouth Police seize sawed-off shotgun in warrant search; one man arrested

FALMOUTH – Falmouth Police seized a sawed-off rifle while serving a search warrant Friday morning at a home on Homestead Lane in East Falmouth.

Officers identified and arrested a suspect, 21-year-old Gregory M.  Harris (right), without incident.

Harris faces preliminary charges of illegal possession of a firearm, improper storage of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

He will also be charged under the Armed Career Criminal Act for persons previously convicted of violent crimes or serious drug offenses. Harris is expected to be arraigned Friday at Falmouth District Court.

Falmouth Police said a short narcotics investigation, including controlled purchases of heroin, led to the search warrant. During the search a sawed-off rifle was seized.

The search warrant was served by Falmouth Police, Mashpee Police, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office, and the Upper Cape Special Response Team.
