DENNIS – Strong work by all public safety personnel saved an elderly gentlemen surfcasting of Sea Street Beach in East Dennis. The gentleman did not realize the tide had come in so quickly behind him. While attempting to make it to the beach he was overcome with exhaustion and collapsed ingesting sea water.

At 9:59 AM Sunday a cry for help was heard on the beach. Dennis Life Guards retrieved the man from the water and a fire department pickup truck and a vehicle from the Department of Natural Resources brought the man off the beach to an awaiting ambulance. Dennis Police and a patrol boat from the Harbormaster’s office responded to ensure the man’s safety.

The man was evaluated by the paramedics and brought to Cape Cod Hospital.
