Harwich car crash takes out utility pole closing road overnight

HARWICH –
Harwich Fire-Rescue and Harwich Police responded to a car vs. pole accident on Main St near Tody Bole Lane with unknown injuries just after 2 a.m. Saturday.

A single vehicle had struck a pole holding a guy wire, narrowly missing a tree, plowing through a split rail fence and vegetation, finally coming to rest in the front yard of a home.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was conscious upon arrival of rescuers and after evaluation by Medics, he refused further treatment or transport.

Route 39 was closed to traffic in both directions between Oak St and Chatham Rd, while the scene was worked.

It appeared that the road would be shut down for a period of time until the utilities could be secured and the roadway cleared of debris. Harwich Police are in charge of the investigation.
