YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police report that on Wednesday at 10:22 PM, Proactive Anti-Crime Unit (PACU) Officer Christopher VanNess observed a white 2004 Ford Freestyle Van traveling on Route 28 operating erratically and crossing over the fog lines and the center lines.

Officer VanNess stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Jaunita Vandewoestyne. An investigation was conducted and the driver produced a crack pipe with residue that smelled and appeared to be burnt crack cocaine residue. A subsequent check of the vehicle found a brown plastic knotted corner cut baggie containing a light colored powder in Vandewoestyne’s purse.

Yarmouth Police Department Drug Enforcement Detective Scott Lundegren arrived at the scene and a drug identification machine indicated that the contents of the knotted brown baggie tested positive for the presence of cocaine.

The driver subsequently stated she had another bag of white powder inside of her underwear and she reached in to her pants and retrieved a knotted corner baggie containing white powder which also tested positive for cocaine.

Vandewoestyn was brought to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and subsequently placed under arrest on a charged of possession of a Class B substance (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute. She was held overnight and brought to the Barnstable District Court for arraignment on Thursday morning. She was arraigned and released on personal recognizance and is due back in court on August 1, 2017.
