NEW VIDEO: Heavy rains wash away car in Wellfleet

WELLFLEET – Heavy rains did major damage last night at the Cahoon Hollow Beach parking lot in Wellfleet. As CWN reported in our overnight storm coverage, a large section of a dune collapsed taking an unoccupied car with it. Wellfleet officials plane to reevaluate the situation in the daylight today. Fire Chief Richard Pauley has ordered the Cahoon Beach parking lot closed until further notice.

In the AM Beach, Fire, DPW and Police reconvened to access the situation. The parking lot was closed and barricades were established on the beach and in the parking lot.

Silver Cloud responded and was able to remove the vehicle safely. This was done with no loss of gasoline or other fluids preventing a further and complicated environmental situation.

M. A. Frazier responded and secured their portable restrooms so the parking lot can be secured with fencing.
