WELLFLEET – Lifeguards from across Cape Cod were put to the test Thursday at Newcomb Hollow Beach in Wellfleet at the 43rd Annual Cape Cod Lifesaving Competition.
The guards competed in 13 grueling events that included Iron Man and Women events, swim and paddleboard relays and swim rescues.
The eleven teams that took part, including one that came down from Maine, were divided into surf and non-surf categories.
And when the sand settled, Barnstable extended its long winning-streak, coming in first in the non-surf division. Dennis and Yarmouth tied for second.
In the surf division, Nauset topped their field, with National Seashore guards coming in second.
