Lightning strike sparks fire in Falmouth

FALMOUTH – A lightning strike sparked a fire at a building at 516 Woods Hole Road about 8:30 a.m. The strike appeared to be outside but firefighters were investigating some smoke coming from the eaves. No injuries were reported. Meanwhile, at least three vehicles became disabled in deep water caused from flooding from torrential downpours as the squall line moved through.  A short time later engines from Mashpee and Joint Base Cape Cod responded to 250 Hatchville Road after smoke was reported in the basement. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for possible fire.

Elsewhere, possible lightning strikes were reported in Bourne and Marstons Mills but no serious damage was noted. Heavy rains temporarily flooded some roads in Provincetown.
