WELLFLEET – Wellfleet Police report that on Saturday at approximately 10:07 a.m. officers responded to a residence off White Tail Lane for a report of a female who was sexually assaulted. Upon the arrival, officers were able to identify the 22-year-old female. Upon further investigation the officers learned that several people were staying at the residence for a social gathering of friends and acquaintances. The female had a sexual encounter without her consent. The two parties are not in a dating relationship.
Based on the investigation of the officers, Joshua Baum, 32, of Pennsylvania, was arrested for rape and Indecent Assault and Battery on a person over 14 years of age. Baum was transported to the Wellfleet Police Department where he was booked and released on bail. Baum was due to be arraigned at the Orleans District Court on Monday.
