Man charged with trafficking heroin and Fentanyl

Michael Cahoon

YARMOUTH – During the months of March and April, Barnstable and Yarmouth Detectives initiated an investigation into the distribution of Heroin/Fentanyl by 26-year-old Michael Cahoon. Surveillance and undercover purchases revealed that Cahoon was distributing Heroin/Fentanyl from his address at 7 Duffy Rd. in West Yarmouth.

BPD Detective Thomas Chevalier applied for and was granted a search warrant for the address from Barnstable District Court.

On Friday morning, Detectives from BPD and YPD established surveillance of 7 Duffy Rd. in anticipation of executing the Search Warrant. Shortly thereafter, Detectives encountered Cahoon and his girlfriend as they left the residence. Detectives then made entry into the residence and encountered two other family members.

Upon searching the residence, Detectives located a plastic bag containing approximately 40 grams of Fentanyl which was found in Cahoon’s bedroom. Detectives also located and seized unprescribed pharmaceuticals and other evidence relating to drug distributing such as baggies, diluting agents, and digital scales. Approximately four thousand dollars in cash was also hidden in Cahoon’s bedroom and seized by Detectives.

As a result, Cahoon was placed under arrest for Trafficking in Fentanyl and Possession of a Class E Substance. Michael Cahoon was transported to the Barnstable Police Department for booking and later arraigned at Barnstable District Court where his bail was set at $7500.00.
