Updated: Man arrested for armed robbery after drug deal “goes bad”

BOURNE – At approximately 8:01 p.m., officers from the Bourne Police Department responded to an address on Brady Road in Sagamore, MA for a report of a disturbance. The disturbance was later determined to be the result of an Armed Robbery related to a drug transaction.

Based upon the initial investigation, Officers determined a male had arrived at the Brady Road residence of 22-year-old Jonathan Correia in Sagamore, in an attempt to sell an amount of marijuana. The male, accompanied by a female, pulled up to Correia’s residence in his vehicle. Correia came out to meet the male and the two initiated a transaction.

During the transaction, Correia pulled out what was initially believed to be a firearm, struck the male in the face with the handle of the weapon, and otherwise threatened him. Correia then stole an undetermined amount of marijuana and fled back towards his residence.

At this point, the male in the vehicle drove at Correia, striking Correia with the vehicle. Correia then fled into his residence and remained there until police arrived. Correia was placed under arrest and transported to an area hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries. The other male was evaluated for injuries on the scene. The weapon was located and determined to be a realistic looking BB gun.

Upon his release from the hospital, Correia was transported to the Bourne Police Department where he was booked for Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws.

The other male will be summoned to court for various charges, including A&B with a Dangerous Weapon and Distribution of a Class D Substance.
