– According to the Orleans Police Department, at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Sergeant Norton and Officer Pellegrino began investigating the theft of a brown 1977 Mercedes 300D with Connecticut registration plates that had been stolen from in front of Tedeschi’s.  A suspect male was captured by security cameras stealing the vehicle.  A follow-up investigation by officers also revealed that the suspect had attempted to steal another vehicle prior to stealing the Mercedes, unbeknownst to that vehicle’s owner as it was parked in front of Fullers package store.

While on patrol at about 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday July 29, Officer Kevin Coffey observed a Mercedes traveling on Rock Harbor Road and was able to identify the vehicle as the one stolen from Tedeschi’s.

Once the car was stopped, Officer Coffey noted that the operator’s clothing matched the surveillance images from Wednesday evening. He and Sergeant Richard Dinn placed the operator, Mark Lally, 54, of Eastham under arrest for larceny of a motor vehicle and additional charges of operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating with a suspended license.

Lally was held overnight and arraigned Thursday morning at Orleans District Court.
