SANDWICH – A 20 year old Forestdale man is facing charges for distribution of marijuana after an investigation by the Sandwich Police Department.
Sandwich Police began receiving neighborhood complaints about high traffic volumes coming and going from 5 Artisan Way in Forestdale. Several residents indicated they believed narcotic transactions were happening at the residence and requested police assistance.
Sandwich Police Detectives conducted a 2 week investigation. Based on the information from the investigation, a search warrant was issued by Barnstable District Court as well as an arrest warrant for Zachary Souza, 20.
On Thursday, members of the Sandwich Police Department executed the search warrant. During the search, approximately 5 ounces of marijuana were located with an estimated street value of $2,000.
Souza is being charged with distribution of a Class D substance and possession with intent to distribute a Class D substance.
Although there have been recent changes to the marijuana laws, it is still illegal for marijuana to be sold or distributed by anyone other than a licensed medical marijuana facility or licensed recreational retail store.
