YARMOUTH – Yarmouth police and fire officials responded to an accident involving a school bus and another vehicle about 7:15 AM Wednesday morning at the intersection of Regional and Station Avenues.

The bus had 15 students inside heading to Cape Cod Regional High School in Harwich.

The other vehicle was a Jeep Liberty and involved four students heading to Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.

The scene was secured and traffic diverted.

Investigation conducted by Yarmouth Police Patrol Officer Jeffrey Rivett indicate that the 17 year old junior operator of the other vehicle stopped at the stop sign at Regional and Station Avenue and then pulled out and struck the school bus.

The operator had an active junior operator’s license but no one else in the vehicle was of the proper legal age.

All four people in the Jeep and one person in the School Bus were transported to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis for precautionary reasons by Yarmouth Fire Department.

There were no serious injuries and the juvenile operator was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle in Violation of License Restriction.

Reports from the scene indicate that none of the students on the Cape Cod Tech bus were injured. Three people in the Jeep Liberty were transported to Cape Cod Hospital with minor injuries.
