Video: Man arrested for DUI after South Dennis T-bone crash

SOUTH DENNIS – Around 5 p.m. Monday a Ford Ranger pickup truck traveling north on Main Street entered the four-way-stop intersection with Highbank Road and slammed into the driver’s door of a westbound Toyota Camry sedan. The force of the collision pushed the Camry into a southbound Nissan pickup approaching the intersection.

According to a report in the Cape Cod Times, the driver of the truck, a 56-year-old man from Harwich, was arrested for driving under the influence, reckless operation and failure to stop at a stop sign.

The driver of the sedan, apparently traveling alone, was pinned in the wreckage until he could be extricated by Dennis firefighters and transported to Cape Cod Hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries. At one point during the extrication, medics inquired about the availability of MedFlight but were told the helicopters were grounded because of the weather.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were apparently uninjured. Both trucks sustained front-end damage.

Traffic was able to continue flowing through the intersection in an east-west direction while the scene was worked.

The Dennis Police Department is investigating the crash.
