Updated: Snowstorm makes for slippery travel

8 p.m. update: Up to 8 inches of snow in Sandwich. Snow will taper off except for a possible squall this evening. There could be black ice overnight.

4 p.m. update: Snow about to taper off but a quick snow squall is still possible as the arctic air moves in. Snow accumulations range from 5 to 7 inches, highest in Sandwich. West Barnstable Firefighters called to another crash Friday afternoon. A car struck a tree sending one person to Cape Cod Hospital:

CAPE COD – (updated at noon) A late season snowstorm is making for slippery travel. West Barnstable firefighters responded to the above crash on Route 6 Friday morning. It appeared the car spun out and hit the guardrail. State Police are investigating. West Barnstable Fire reports responding to two additional crashes as well.

It looks like Old Man Winter is going to hang around for awhile…A possible snow squall late Friday night will herald the arrival of another potentially record breaking arctic blast for the weekend and it appears a significant nor’easter could affect the region on Tuesday.
