Stolen car, crash lead to multiple charges against Truro man

WELLFLEET – Wellfleet Police report that on Friday at approximately 5:02 a.m., they responded to Old Chequessette Neck Road for a reported motor vehicle crash.

Once on location the responding Officer observed a Green 2008 Ford Fusion, which was reported stolen from a residence in Truro, in the woods near 355 Old Chequessette Neck Road.  The vehicle was rolled over onto its roof and was partially down an embankment into the woods. 

The sole occupant was a white male later identified as Aaron Caldwell, 26, of North Truro.  Caldwell was arrested at the scene and was charged with the following offenses. 

  • Operating under the influence of drugs
  • Malicious damage to a motor vehicle
  • Receiving stolen property (Motor Vehicle).
  • Operating with a revoked license.
  • Leaving the scene of property damage.
  • Negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Speed greater than reasonable.

Caldwell sustained minor injuries and was transported to Cape Cod Hospital by the Wellfleet Fire Department where he was treated and released.  He was being held at the Wellfleet Police Department based upon a probation violation and is due to be arraigned in Orleans District Court Monday morning.
