High winds cause scattered power outages

CAPE COD – CWN is closely monitoring the weather through the evening and overnight, Despite the already gusty winds, even stronger gusts are predicted overnight as even colder air moves in with dangerously low wind chills possibly accompanied by snow squalls. Watch here for updates. 

Friday morning update: A ham radio operator reported a 64 MPH gust in North Truro where several  large branches were reported down on Highland Road. A handful of isolated power outages are still being worked on.

11:30 p.m. update: 785 Eversource customers lost power around 11 p.m. in Orleans. A possible blown transformer and downed wires on Main Street near Tonset Road is apparently to blame. Highest wind gust reported is 56 MPH at Woods Hole.

7:30 p.m. update: The outage in Eastham was cleared shortly after 7 p.m. 

6:00 p.m. update. Over 250 Eversource customers have been with power in Eastham early this evening. There is a report a tree came down on wires on Bridge Road which is the likely culprit. Winds have gusted to 52 MPH in Buzzards Bay.
