Student from Sandwich school found safe three hours after he went missing

SANDWICH – The Sandwich Police Department, with help from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department and the State Police, worked together to locate a 16 year old student from the Riverview School approximately three hours after the student was reported missing.

The Sandwich Police Department received a report from the Riverview School that a student had walked away from the campus and they could not locate them. A description of the student was given and Sandwich police responded to search the area. Barnstable County K-9 handler Captain Murphy responded with his dog Dexter. The State Police Air Wing responded with their helicopter to help assist in the search. After approximately three hours, Captain Murphy and K-9 Dexter located the student deep in the woods that were surrounding the school. The student was transported to the hospital by the Sandwich Fire Department for evaluation.
