EASTHAM – A raging fire burned a two-story home to the ground in Eastham. The fire broke out at daybreak at 30 Governor Brewster Road. The two occupants were able to get out safely. One of them was later taken to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation. One firefighter was evaluated at the scene.
The new Eastham water system is not on line in the neighborhood so firefighters had to run a tanker shuttle from Great Pond. Mutual aid from several towns was called to facilitate the shuttle. Smoke from the fire blanketed the neighborhood and drifted across a portion of Route 6 for a time. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
