Two bike accidents along Provincelands Bike Trail Sunday afternoon part of busy day for local rescuers

PROVINCETOWN – Two people were injured in separate bike accidents along the Provincelands bicycle train in the Cape Cod National Seashore late Sunday afternoon. The first crash happened not far from the Provincelands Visitor Center headed toward Race Point. The victim reportedly suffered a leg injury. The second crash happened a short time later along Provincelands Road between the visitor center and Herring Cove. The person was not seriously injured but was partially entrapped in the wrecked bicycle. Both crashes are under investigation by U.S. Park Rangers.

It was a busy day for Provincetown rescuers; a short time before the bike accidents, EMTs were called to MacMillan Wharf where a person had reportedly fainted onboard the tall ship Kalmar Nykel. Additional assistance was needed to bring the victim from the ship up to the dock so they could be put in an ambulance for transport to Cape Cod Hospital.

Rescuers also had to treat at least one person who was reportedly involved in a fight on the beach behind the U.S. Post Office. Further details were not immediately available.
