COTUIT – At 9:05 PM Saturday evening, Cotuit Fire received a call for a motor vehicle vs motorcycle with a vehicle fire. Cotuit Fire responded with an ambulance and COMM responded with an engine out of the Marstons Mills station. Upon location they found a collision of a motorcycle and a golf cart, with the golf cart upside down and fully involved in fire.

There was a total of three patients, two with life-threating injuries and a third with serious injuries. MedFlight was requested but cancelled due to the helicopter arrival time and need for immediate treatment. All three were transported to Cape Cod Hospital. Two were being treated and awaiting helicopter transport to an off Cape trauma center.

Barnstable Police called for their traffic division to conduct crash reconstruction. Route 28 was closed in the area while the scene was worked. The road reopened about 11 PM. Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills and Mashpee FDs assisted at the scene.

On Sunday, Barnstable Police identified the driver of what they described as a go-kart as Patrick O’Shaughnessy and the passenger as Sarah Williams, 23, of South Yarmouth. The motorcycle operator was identified as Stanley Crowe, 34, of Sagamore. Police say bystanders pulled O’Shaughnessy and Williams from the burning wreckage. An off-duty paramedic began immediate treatment of Crowe. All three were later transferred to off-Cape hospitals.
