Wrong way driver causes crash in Bourne

BOURNE –  Bourne Police dispatch received a report of a wrong way operator traveling west in the eastbound travel lane on the Scenic Highway in the area of Cape Cod Aggregate Monday night just after 5:30. A second call reported a head-on crash with the wrong way operator’s vehicle, a gray 2013 Honda Civic, continuing westbound.

Officers located the suspect vehicle and were able to affect a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle approximately one-quarter of a mile from the crash scene. After being evaluated at the scene by paramedics, it was determined that the 73-year-old female operator from Plymouth, MA was suffering from a medical condition. She was transported to an area hospital for that condition. There were no other injuries resulting from this crash. The operator will be charged with failure to stay within marked lanes, wrong way operation, operating to endanger, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash with property damage, and failure to stop for police. The initially reported head on accident was determined to be a side impact accident with the passenger side of the westbound suspect vehicle making contact with the passenger side of the eastbound second vehicle, a gray 2014 Honda Accord.
