Yarmouth Police charge second juvenile in alleged armed robbery attempt

YARMOUTH –  Yarmouth Police have arrested and charged a second juvenile in an alleged armed robbery attempt of a 14-year-old who had just stepped off a school bus.

The incident happened Monday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Wedgemere Road in West Yarmouth.

The victim said he was confronted by two males as he walked home who assaulted him and threatened him to ‘empty his pockets.’  One male was wearing a clown type face mask and was armed with what the victim thought was an electronic ‘stun gun’ type of weapon.

A short time later, Yarmouth Police Officers located two suspects matching the description in the area and placed one of them under arrest—who is 17 years old—and detained the second one—who is 15 years old.

The 17-year-old was processed at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and subsequently arraigned in the Barnstable Juvenile District Court.

The investigation continued and the 15-year-old who was interviewed has now been charged as well.

The names of all those  involved have not been released. The 14-year-old victim was not physically injured and nothing was taken from him.

The electronic stun gun type device has not been recovered and both suspects are not fully cooperating with police. Anyone with information about the location of the stun gun or more information about this violent crime is asked to contact Yarmouth Police Detective Eric H. Nuss at 508.775.0445 extension 2132.
