A dynamic duo! That is what Kathleen and her 7 year old grandson Myles are to their neighbor.
Myles noticed that their neighbor who had been doing yard work had suddenly collapsed so Myles immediately ran inside to alert his grandmother, a former emergency room nurse.
Katie ran to the gentleman to assess the situation while asking Myles to get her phone and he knew what to do…call 911. The patient was pulse-less and apneic. There were no signs of life so Katie immediately initiated CPR.
After minutes of taking resuscitative action, Katie was literally able to bring her neighbor back to life. When the paramedics arrived the patient was responsive and sitting up. He was in cardiac dysrhythmia and was immediately transported to Cape Cod Hospital.
Without the quick action of Myles notifying Katie and calling 911 their neighbor’s chances of survival would have been very much diminished.
