Cape Cod Kitchen Remodels – Where to Go!

Think it’s time to remodel that drab, outdated Cape Cod kitchen? You’re not alone. According to the National Association of Home Builders, more homeowners are starting those long-delayed projects that were put off during the height of the recession. And the place many remodelers start is in the kitchen.

Why Start in the Kitchen?

According to a recent survey, kitchen remodels are the No. 2 most-requested fix, right after the bathroom redo. And it’s easy to see why. NAHB says homeowners will recoup almost 75 percent of their investment in the kitchen when they sell their home.

“People are always willing to update their kitchens,” Dale Contant, secretary of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry told houselogic.com. “It’s the hub of the home.”

Where do I Start?

So if you’re building a new home, thinking about revamping that old kitchen, or just need to replace that noisy washing machine, a good first stop is the KAM Appliance showrooms in Hyannis, Nantucket or Hanover. There you can find everything from professional-grade brands like Sub Zero and Wolf to popular lines like Whirlpool, Maytag and LG.

“We really want to be a resource for our everyone who has an appliance, to be a place where they can come in see, touch and even try the appliances,” said KAM general manager Dave Murray. “We carry luxury lines like Wolf, Sub-Zero, Gaggenau and Viking. “But we’re also the place to come when your washer or dryer breaks.”

Conveniently located at the corner of Route 28 and Willow Street, the Hyannis showroom displays hundreds of refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves and other popular appliances as well as exotic coffee makers, wood-burning pizza ovens and high-end wine preserving and dispensing systems.

“We want people to feel like they can walk into our showroom and see all the options available,” Murray said.

And the KAM staff will spend plenty of time getting to know what each consumer wants and needs and  will help find the best products to tackle the jobs.

“Do they want something that’s tendy? Something very reliable? Something they are going to use every day or something that just looks pretty?” he said.

One of the things that sets KAM apart is the institutional knowledge of the staff.

“I’ve been here since 2003,” Murray explained. “I’ve been through just about every job, and I’m not alone in that experience. That means if a customer comes in with a question, nine times out of 10, if I don’t know the answer, then the person beside me will.”

Murray said he’s fielded inquiries ranging from clearances, electrical specifications and how to clean certain appliances to what to do about a refrigerator gasket that isn’t sealing properly, (rub it with petroleum jelly).

“Before there was Pinterest, there was KAM,” he said. “We want to be the Pinterest of appliances.”

Towards that end, KAM holds frequent cooking demonstrations in the showrooms and will even let potential customers come in and try out appliances before they buy them.

“If you want to see how a  a pork tenderloin cooks and we have the appliance hooked up live, you can come in and cook it,” he said.

Murray said he and his staff have even helped customers who summer on the Cape but are remodeling their permanent residents in other states.

“We try to put a positive vibe out there and believe it will come back to us in the future,” he said.

KAM Appliances showrooms are located at 201 Yarmouth Road in Hyannis, 54 Old South Road, Nantucket and 1176 Washington Street in Hanover. Go to kamonline.com for more information.
