The concept of creating food truck festivals throughout the region was born back in 2011 when a client of ours, a community in Plymouth called The Pinehills, talked with us about creating something new and different.  We had been hearing about food trucks – we knew they were taking off in cities like Los Angeles, New York and Washington D.C., but they hadn’t really made their way to New England.

We thought it would be fun to bring food trucks to The Pinehills and invite the public to experience this phenomenon for the first time.  We searched and searched for food trucks in the area and we found eight trucks able to attend.  Eight trucks in 2011.  Today we work with a list of more than 350 trucks!  If only the stock market grew at that rate!

We had no idea what to expect at that first Food Truck Festival at The Pinehills.  500 people?  1,000 people?  We told the trucks to be prepared for 1,000 people and we apologized in advance if they went back with food.  We were stunned when 4,000 people showed up that day, clamoring for a grilled cheese, a lobster slider or a gourmet cupcake.  At that very moment we knew we were onto something and Food Truck Festivals of New England was born.

Our goal is to bring food trucks to communities that do not have a large food truck presence…places like Worcester, Newport, Portsmouth and Cape Cod.  The Cape has a true burgeoning food truck industry but not a density in any one community.  There are trucks in Truro, in Wellfleet, in Hyannis, in Dennis, in Falmouth, in Orleans…but as opposed to Boston, you won’t find an area with a dozen food trucks in one place so you can try many different types of menus.  We call it “grazing” – and it’s why most people love our food truck festivals.  So many gourmet options in one place – and the food is really fabulous.

Here is just an example of what the event will look like!

The growth of the food truck industry has been rapid and fascinating.  The men and women who run the food trucks are hard-working, industrious small businesspeople who take pride in making excellent food.  It is an honor to be involved in it in some way.  And to introduce the world of food trucks to Cape Cod gives us great pleasure.  We hope to see you there!
