I was just remembering a funny story from back in the day… So you remember the song “Dancing in the Dark” by Springsteen that came out in the mid 80’s?
Well, in the video, at the time it was a big deal that Courtney Cox was the girl that dancing with Springsteen on stage. Well, when Bruce was on tour around that time, he was playing at the “Boston Garden” and I was asked (in advance) to be the girl to go on stage with him, during that particular song.
I worked on the radio in Boston at the time and it was planned by “his people” weeks before. I was psyched and nervous, but I was glad I got a “heads up” so that I had plenty of time to plan my outfit! (haha!)
I decided to wear a short off-white leather skirt, a matching off-white leather bustier and thigh high off-white leather boots. My hair was wild, just the way I thought it should be as I was suppose to be a little “showy” as I was strutting my stuff on stage at the Boston Garden in front of a sold-out crowd!
Anyway, security knew where I’d be sitting and they said security will come to get you at a certain time in the show and escort you onto the stage.
So I’m waiting for security, they came and got me, but they were a spec behind schedule so when I got to the stage, “Springsteen” was really kind of “into” the song already and since I was brought to the stage late, he just grabbed a woman in the front row and brought her on-stage! Ugh! I couldn’t believe it! I was heartbroken!
In the end, I had to chalk it up as another case of “all dolled up and nowhere to go!”
