In two weeks, I will have a new TV, one I wanted for a long time. I did something to get it I thought only my mother and grandmother did.
I put it on Lay Away.
Actually it was my mother who suggested it, saying that’s how most of our wardrobe, and those awful Billy The Kid outfits my brother and I were forced to wear, were purchased.
Mom knew what I was thinking….”Lay Away?? That’s for my Mom to do.”
Mom said to think of it this way: It’s a small goal for me to strive for, and because the payments must be made or you lose it, I will be motivated to budget and get it done.
And, after it’s paid for, I will feel a sense of accomplishment.
Moms are always right.
It has been a goal to get the TV paid off and set up nicely in my home.
And in the bigger picture, it does feel good to be working to a goal.
Mission Accomplished soon. Then it’s on to the next Lay Away.
I’m thinking a gas grill, and maybe a few steaks to go with it.
I don’t know if I can Lay away steaks. 🙂
Thanks Mom. As always, sound advice.
