Let’s Hear it for the Dads

Father’s Day is a fun weekend – I say this because it doesn’t seem to have the same ‘stressful-pressure’ that Mother’s Day garners. It’s tradition for a laid back weekend, grilling and spending time relaxing. That’s the beauty of Father’s Day, there’s no pressure, just chillin’ with a cooler and a grill full of Dad’s favorites.

I don’t want to over-simplify this special day. A Dads role is critical to any family.  It’s easy to take for granted all the wonderful things Dads do for us. Think about the important things Dads tackle: they change dirty diapers, assemble all those “easy-to-assemble” toys (yeah right), teach the little ones to ride a two-wheeler, and the finer aspects of sports, scare off potential suitors, brave the co-pilot role with teenagers behind the wheel, walk their babies down the aisle, and all the other everyday moments that fill in the every days.

I think about my Dad. I’m not close enough to help him celebrate, which is really hard, because he is a wonderful man and a wonderful role model. Love you Dad! And I’m pretty sure I’m his favorite. Thank goodness for apps like Skype and Facetime that keep us in touch.

Then I think about my husband and how lucky my girls are to have such a great Dad. He really is a saint, because it’s a full-time commitment just putting up with me, not to mention two more girls just like me.  (hee hee, it’s payback for something he has yet to fess up to). All kidding aside, our girls are extremely blessed to have such a great Dad.

We love you Chris!

Give Dad some extra love this weekend – there are a TON of Father’s Day events this weekend to take advantage of, you can check them out here.
