‘Grounded’ Playing at Cotuit Center for the Arts

COTUIT – The Cotuit Center for the Arts is now showing George Brant’s play “Grounded” at their Black Box Theater.

The story follows a world-class fighter pilot whose career in the sky is ended early due to an unexpected pregnancy. Reassigned to operate military drones from a windowless trailer outside Las Vegas, she hunts terrorists by day and returns to her family each night.

While killing by remote may keep the protagonist safe from harm, it doesn’t isolate her from the psychological effects of warfare.

Brant has described his play “about moral responsibility and contradictory choices… a worst case scenario for the question of whether you can be in two places at once, for those trying to have it all.”

The unnamed pilot is played by Anna Botsford, who serves as head of the Fine Arts Department at Sturgis West Charter Public School in Hyannis, and has appeared in numerous other productions at the Cotuit Center for the Arts and across the Cape.

Tickets to the presentation will run members of the general public 18 dollars, Cotuit Center for the Arts members get in for 15, they’re available at the box office or online at ArtsOnTheCape.org. The show runs from Thursday thru Saturday at 7:30 PM and Sunday at 4 PM.
