FALMOUTH – The Town of Falmouth is looking to acquire two parcels of land for municipal parking.
The Board of Selectmen will be seeking permission to buy or lease the land at November’s Town Meeting. The parcels are located on Main Street and Worcester Court.
“We know from experience that each summer, the demand for parking in the general downtown area continues to increase,” Town Manager Julian Suso said.
Suso said that if permission is granted in November, multiple factors would still be in play.
Specifically, the Main Street location was recently occupied by Bank of America. It remains to be seen if it will remain in their possession by the time the town is ready to negotiate or if another entity will own the land.
Suso said the town is hoping these lots, if developed, will reflect the parking system used at town hall. The town would look to continue work with the Cape Cod RTA.
“We would hope ultimately to tie these off street parking locations via shuttle bus to the town’s beaches, to the downtown area, to the Woods Hole area, et cetera.”
Falmouth Town Meeting takes place November 12.
