Care Packages for Our Troops with Cape Cod Harley-Davidson

No one likes to spend Christmas away from home. It’s even harder when you are half a world away in a place often filled with dirt and dust where you know you have a dangerous job that needs to be done. You volunteered for this job with weapons and explosives, but you still miss your family and home. You are a proud member of the United States military, and a small gift from home can make a world of difference!

Cape Cod Harley-Davidson is teaming up with the local non-profit group “Cape Cod Cares 4 Our Troops” this Saturday to collect items for care packages to send to our Troops in time for Christmas.

There is no denying the long-term relationship between Harley-Davidson motorcycles and our military members! This annual event has become a highlight of the year for the dealership. So many staff members are veterans themselves and have friends and customers who are currently serving or once served out country. The day is a chance to give back to our military members. There will be music and games and food provided by the dealership and Cape Country 104.

This year, there will be a special display of military vehicles including a Humvee and a Helicopter!

Michelle DeSilva from Cape Cod Cares for the Troops is hoping to fill and ship approximately 1,200 care packages by the end of November. They collect items throughout the year, but this one of the final pushes for items. There is also a hefty cost to shipping so many care packages: $20,400.00. Michelle said they were approximately half-way to the financial goal for postage.

This Saturday, the community is welcome to drop off donations of items from the list below, or make cash donations to help cover the shipping costs. The event begins at 11 am Cape Cod Harley-Davison on MacArthur Blvd in Pocasset (just up from the Otis Rotary and 3.5 miles down from the Bourne Bridge). This is a family friendly event for everyone: military members, veterans, civilians, riders and non-riders!

In addition to the list below, cards and notes of encouragement are also happily accepted!
