PROVINCETOWN – The 16th Annual Provincetown International Film Festival takes over the town on the Outer Cape’s tip this weekend, bringing dozens of features, documentaries, animated films and short films at venues all over town.

The festival lasts through Sunday.

The Opening Night film will be “Last Weekend”, directed by Tom Dolby & Tom Williams. This will be the East Coast premiere of the film.

The festival will close with the North American premiere of Jonathan Demme’s “A Master Builder”.

The Friday Spotlight will be Sheila Canavan & Michael Chandler’s “Compared to What: The Improbable Journey of Barney Frank”, and the Saturday Spotlight will be “Love is Strange”, directed by Ira Sachs.

Attending guests include Zachary Booth, Sheila Canavan, Patricia Clarkson, David Cronenberg, Jonathan Demme, Tom Dolby, Andre Gregory, Barney Frank, Ira Sachs and Tom Williams, among others.

Additionally, the 2014 Excellence in Acting Award will be awarded to Academy Award nominee Patricia Clarkson.

Clarkson will accept the award following the opening night screening of “Last Weekend”, in which she stars, on Wednesday, June 18.

Also, Debra Winger will receive the Faith Hubley Career Achievement Award in conversation with film critic B. Ruby Rich during the Conversations with Honorees ceremony at Provincetown’s Town Hall on Saturday, June 21.
